Commit to Vote for Fairfax County Commonwealth's Attorney

On June 11, vote to protect civil liberties and civil rights

Commonwealth's Attorneys are the most powerful elected officials in Virginia's criminal justice system, and the decisions they make have a tremendous impact on our community and people's lives. Far too often, Commonwealth's Attorneys use their power to prop up a broken system rather than pursue justice.

On June 11, Steve Descano and Raymond Morrogh (incumbent) will be on the ballot for the Democratic nomination for Fairfax County Commonwealth's Attorney.

We believe that these candidates should champion reforms that would reduce incarceration , eliminate racial disparities , and increase transparency and accountability in their office . The ACLU of Virginia does not endorse or oppose candidates for office, but we do want Virginians to cast an informed ballot and know where the candidates stand on the issues.

To learn more about where the candidates stand on key civil liberties issues, read Ray Morrogh and Steve Descano’s ACLU questionnaire responses here .

On June 3, join the ACLU of Virginia, the League of Women Voters of the Fairfax Area, and Virginia Interfaith for Public Policy for a candidate forum at the First Baptist Church of Vienna .
