ACLU People Power

The Democratic primary election for Mecklenburg County Sheriff on May 8 will help shape the county’s priorities on issues such as immigrants’ rights, police accountability, and the rights of incarcerated people. We need the next sheriff to not only work to ensure that communities in Mecklenburg are safe, but also ensure that law enforcement policies in Mecklenburg promote justice, fairness and non-discrimination.

To cast an informed ballot, make sure you know where the candidates stand on key civil liberties and civil rights issues.
